Helper Application FAQ

The staff management team consists of SkylixMC, YaBoyTokyo, Turbomax, Cyborg_ and jab50. These are the people who ultimately decide which applicants will become staff members. If you have any questions about the application we will be open to answering them, but if you ask for us to check your application or question us about your chances you will be ignored.

What is the application process?
The application process starts with a player creating an application which shows their interest in becoming a staff member. At this point, a manager will go over your application and decide whether you meet the necessary criteria to make a good staff member. This is the stage at which most applicants are denied. If your application is approved then you will be invited into a discord group where you will wait to be given a meeting. If your meeting goes well, then you will be presented to the senior team for the admins to give their opinions on and the managers to finally vote upon.

How long will it take me to get a response on my application?
Generally, an applicant can expect a response with in one week of submitting an application in order to get a response. However, you can expect this time to likely be much shorter. Application processing times may be affected by holidays and other events.

If I have been punished before does that effect my chances of becoming a helper?
Most chat related offenses will be disregard unless we see a pattern of them. But any serious ban offenses will be taken into consideration when we are deciding whose application to accept, and can often be the difference between making it to the interview or not.

Am I able to decide whether I do a voice or text interview?
In the end, the decision to do a chat interview is yours, but the staff management do prefer to do voice interviews as it allows us to get to know you better and the interview will generally run smoother.

What kind of questions will be asked at the interview?
The questions will consist of various questions that we think are necessary to ask you so that we can get an overview of your personality and how we think you will perform on the staff team. Though, it is common that we will ask you a few personal questions at the beginning to ease your nerves.

How long will it take me to know if I was accepted after my interview?
It can vary between directly after and a few days for the player in question to get an answer on the status of their application.

Can I reapply if my application was denied for some reason?
If your application was denied at some point in the process, you may reapply two weeks after the denial unless told otherwise by a manager.

Why does my application keep getting denied?
If your application gets denied even once, then that should be an indication that there is something wrong with the quality of your application, and you should try to make it better. If you were denied for not meeting a qualification for being a helper, then you will be told specifically what is wrong. Moreover, refer to the next question.

How can I improve my chances of getting accepted?
Generally, on top of a good application, we like to see dedication and a good moral standing for our applicants. What does this mean? Well, let us explain!

• How do I write a good application?

- Grammar/Spellings: Your grammar and spellings in an application count! We have to be able to read and understand your application. If you are not willing to take the time to make sure you are using the correct spellings and grammar in your application, then we are not willing to take the time to translate your application in to actual English. Please note, basic English skills are a requirement in order to become staff.
- Format: Make sure you are following the proper format of the application! The helper applications format can be found here: https://grandtheftmc.net/threads/helper-application-format.58/. Applications that do not follow this format will automatically be denied.
- Visual Overview: Use colors and formatting to make your application look good! If your application is well presented and easy to read/understand, you significantly improve your chances of reaching the interview stage of the application. - Originality: Be original! Be creative! And be honest! Try using more advanced and descriptive English language words. For example, instead I saying "I like pizza," say something like "I adore pizza". Using more advanced English language words will demonstrate that you have a good grasp at the English language and will generally look more profession! Being original also means that you should not copy someone else application or copy paste an application from the internet. Applications that are found to be stolen will permanently be denied! Cheaters are not welcome in the staff team.
- Description: Include details! Don't just tell us that you think you will make a good staff member. Tell us why you think you will make a good staff member. Tell us how to plan to become a good staff member. The more details you add the better it is for your application!

• How do I show dedication to the server?

- Voting: By voting for GTM regularly, you show that you care for the server and want to see GTM grow. Voting keeps GTM at the top of the server lists and brings in new players!
- Activity: By activity, we don't just mean for you to be active in game. In fact, being active across multiple GTM platforms including here on the forums, the discord, and in-game will significantly boost your chances of getting accepted!
- Social Media: Make sure you are following GTM over Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. By follow us over our social media you show a great attachment to our server. This is something we would like to see in ALL applicants! Creating Youtube videos in order to attract new players to GTM also falls under this category.

• How do I show a good moral standing?

- Honesty: It is very important that our staff members are honest and upfront with us regarding day to day matters. Honestly is an important trait that is a MUST HAVE for ALL applicants!
- Respect: A good staff member should not only respect other staff members, but also other players. Players who are rude, toxic, and unfriendly to other players in chat are unlikely to be accepted. The staff rank is a position of respect. Players who occupy this position therefor must also be respectful to others.
- Attitude: Have control over your ego and keep a good attitude all around. No one likes a narcissist running around who think they are better then everyone.

Is it too late?
What if you do not have the qualities mentioned above. Is it too late? No, it's never too late to change! No one is perfect. However, the important thing is that you recognize that and improve on yourself.
