Dear Vice players, I have some very unfortunate news for you. We will be removing ViceMC from the network. I know that I have promised a new season over and over again, but people have made me realize that I am causing damage to the network by allowing it to continue. The playerbase, however loyal, is too small to sustain its development. I must attribute all available resources to GTM. Why can't you just keep Vice open? With no development resources being attributed to this server, bugs will remain unfixed. This will not only damage the gameplay on Vice, but it will also be harmful to the GTM Network as a whole. Fixing these bugs will cost too much, and we'd rather focus on GTM. Why did you lie to us for so long? I'm sorry for not making this decision earlier, but I did not lie to you. I really wanted to release a Vice S3 and get the bugs fixed, but GTM remained my first priority. With our development team being reduced to 1 person, it was not viable to fix these bugs. Internal discussions with the dev & staff team made me realize I had to make this decision. I'm sorry if it feels like I was stringing you along. When will you close ViceMC? I will leave it open for a couple more days so you can say goodbye to it. Will we be compensated for our purchases? Anyone that made ViceMC purchases since October 1, 2018 are eligible for a giftcard for the value of their purchases, that they can spend on GTM. Create a ticket in the Purchases department to receive your credit. Again, my sincerest apologies. I hope you will continue to play on the GTM Network. Prez
Very unfortunate for all the Vice players, but a really good decision to close Vice so the development team can continue having GTM as their first priority. Good decision Prez! P.S. If anyone has questions regarding Vice and it closing, just DM me on discord (DieHeldernaar#5784) or contact me in-game (DieHeldernaar) so i will be able to properly explain why the Vice server was closed.
I feel like that discussion was extremely biased seeing as only 2-3 low ranked staff members played regularly.
I know it's just a game but I'm heartbroken right now. Don't know what to feel. Vice could have been a great place with a few changes. Fix that there was at least a download link to the resource pack. After the resource pack broke, vice got drained of people. You could really see a difference. Trying to grow drugs when every drug looks like a sword. Not an easy task... Make the seasons much shorter (the spawn and machines could stay the same, no problem) Fix the anvils. Not being able to enchant, after the anvils got disabled, was really aweful for new players. Really nice would have been to bring back the power armor shop from s1 (and the sell button) There are of course other changes that would have been welcome, but even a bit of lag and half broken hoppers and redstone wouldn't have stopped people from playing... A few weeks before s2 ended LANoire and I did a a vice-race where we gave people a mil to get started with. The ones that reached the top 5 cartels (after the top 3) all got giftcards in the gtm store. Well, it brought quite a bit of new players and also players that got hooked and would have continued to play in s3. I was planning for s3 to do more of those kind of events to keep people engaged with vice. A lot of people were also applying to join LANoire or StrayCats for s3 after s2 ended. I understand in current situation why this choice has been made, but I do believe that with a little bit more "love" for vice, it would still have been around today. Just sad it didn't go that way. Anyways, heartbroken or not. I still love gtm. Sorry for being a bit negative. I still hope that gtm will maybe somewhere in the future once again consider to create such a play mode (once gtm has reached some of the current goals). You can't blame a girl for hoping .
That is not true what so ever. Believe me, the fact that "low ranked staff members" played vice had nothing to do with the decision. As Prez explained it simply wasn't worth keeping up. Vice was straining our already thin resources. Again, as Prez explained we only have 1 dev at this time. I personally am with you on that one. No matter how unlikely, maybe someday in the far future, you never know.
I still think gtm needs a restructuring to make it more sustainable. Jping needs some more focus on guns so that its easier for new players to get good because jp pvp is uneque and dominated by only a small group of people. And more money needs to be taken out of the economy. This can be done by offering titles, items... for ingame money. Jp's should be lowered to 80K from shop so that ppl actually buy them and a very signifigant ammount of money is taken out. It will also make it easier for new players to get good at jping.
GTM7 gives JPers a hefty nerf woth the disabling of katanas and other power melee weapons in JPs. That was the idea with New Mineport. That doesnt help though considering the amount of money in the economy. And there is no fair way to do that with out making those tags so expensive that only 5 or 10 people can afford them.
Might have been nice to clarify october 31st 2018 before i made a ticket. Anyway, don’t want to completely make my reply salty so thank you so much prez, this gamemode has given me so much enjoyment and new friends. It’s a shame for it to go, but it was amazing while it lasted
Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. Just seems like friendships go deeper in vice. And no wonder, getting killed in gtm can of course never compare with getting raided. So loyalty and friendship was key to surviving in vice. So I thought to go online yesterday just to check things out, and to my surprise there was 6 peeps there and they all had cartels. I helped a few new starting cartels and get started farming. and giving the link to the resource pack of course. OMG it was just so much fun again, and I ended hanging there until deep in the night. Still online now It's breaking my heart. Will spend my gtm time on vice now until its the final day...
A tough decision, but a necessary move for the greater good. I totally understand that, thank you for notifying us of this.
I need to get unbanned, I got banned 1.5 years ago and I think its just wrong for them to charge you money to get unbanned help me out man.
This is not the right area for this. You can make an appeal here https://grandtheftmc.net/support or make an purchase unban ticket for approval for a purchase of an unban.
