So i have decided to create this because i have noticed a lot of things have changed in the past year and i wanted to kind of take both sides as well as inform newer players about the old GTM. I just want to say that some of this is opinion based and you may or may not agree with everything i say. Why it's Worse: 1. The number one reason that gtm is worse then 1 year ago is the economy. 1 year ago 10 million dollars was a fortune and a half, nowadays it's pocket change to more then a few players. The reason this is bad is because A) rare items are losing value by the day, and B) It's getting harder and harder for new players to make a decent living than in months past. As inflation becomes more and more of a problem the sell rates of loot and other ways for low level players to get money stays the same. (Kudos to the staff team, relatively recently i have seen different ways that the game itself is trying to deflate the economy. Intentional or not GTM needs this) 2. We only have 1 developer compared to the whole team we had last year. This kinda speaks for itself, unfortunately theirs not a whole lot we can do about this. 3. This is kind of controversial but... miniguns. Miniguns used to be cheaper and much more about skill then they are now. Even though they used to be OP back in the day i don't think that they needed a fix, instead i think the rest of the guns should have been buffed to where they needed to be. These days it's less about aim and more about who starts shooting first, who has nike's on and who doesn't. Back in the day it was actually kind of competitive. This goes for pvp in general on GTM, back in the day pvp was really skill based, it was fun and even the newest of players stood a chance. Today it's about who spams throwables faster and has the more annoying strategy. It's not really fun for anybody. Here's a short video of what old GTM might have been like for a godfather 1 year ago. Why it's better: 1. There are more content creators then ever before, these days a montage comes out 4-7 or more times a week from different people and it's honestly great!! Back in the day DekisB was the only person really making montages regularly. 2) Our staff team is more accessible then ever. GJ guys, keep it up!!! 3) Many bugs have been patched including many dupe glitches. unfortunately not before they were abused a shit ton. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those who are new to GTM, here's a quick video to show you how katana rarity has decreased through the year. Please leave thoughts and suggestions below.
Also take note that GTM has become MUCH more toxic in the past year. Like words cant describe how toxic GTM has become. 1 year ago toxicity on GTM looked like this. (I hate you poopy head!)
Did no one notice my Montages/Videos about gtm a Year ago? Also, I Think My Minigun Montages Sum up how much Minigunning has changed, With all the buffs and de-buffs the Minigun has gone through. *These Videos are not meant for promotion and are for informational Purposes* (Also maybe Mute the first Montage because I sucked at making videos back then)
Had no clue, but still. Dekis was pretty much the only one making them sorta regularly. And thx for the short history of minigun balancing! I like how in the end of the 2nd one you show the profit... a whole 25K xD. I will be watching these for a long time, i truly loved the old minigun and i still strongly believe that it was good where it was at. The damage could have gotten a slight nerf but the mechanics were on point, now the're pretty BS.
I haven't even read this yet, but I can already tell you the weapon nerf was the biggest issue. It easily killed 90% of GTM's dedicated players. Section 1 Reaction: The GTM economy has always been iffy. You have all the F2P players barely scraping a living while all the Supremes/Sponsors enjoy a jetpack and and 10k in gear a day. What really tore everything up was the introduction of the wingsuit/katana/drug cheatcodes. Those items used to be worth a TON before the cheatcodes. A wingsuit was easily 70k, I used to sell Katanas all the time for 400k+, and the good drugs created a lucrative market for all the F2P'ers out there. But now you're lucky to sell a Katana+Wingsuit combo for more than 100k. And don't even get me started on the Jetpack/Katana issue. It was already bad with just the Supreme ranks knowing how to actually jetpack. Their ability to constantly practice made the idea of trying to consistently jetpack as a F2P'er a joke. Now you have all the big wallet kiddos with literal dubs of STACKED KATANAS who suck all the spare jetpacks out of the system because they're the only ones who know how to use them. Section 2 Reaction: I'm pretty sure the old Devs used to be the only ones with an actual idea of how to keep a server playable. I don't blame the staff members for trying to keep content fresh with all their updates. And I really don't mean any offense from what I say, but by comparing the number of players GTM has now with 1 Dev to the amount when GTM had with 5 Devs, makes you kinda wonder if those Devs had the right idea. Section 3 Reaction: Miniguns have always been the most controversial part of GTM, aside from maybe Donor rank abilities. Granted, Miniguns were very good, and the fact that only Godfathers had them made them seem very verrry P2W. But you have to remember all the work that Godfather put in to get where they were. And I use past tense because they really don't have anything going for them now. But do you ever think that maybe, through all the playtime a Godfather puts in, they actually got good enough to make the Minigun sound/look OP? I mean, put a Minigun in a Hobo's hands and most likely they won't be able to do jack squat with it. But an actual skilled player might finesse and fight until they milk out the price of buying that Minigun, whose price alone was reason enough for the Minigun to be as OP as it was. And I'm gonna say it. Regardless of what anyone says, regardless of whatever any of SkylixMC's charts say(very nice charts BTW), regardless of anything anyone says, GTM is dying/dead. I joined in the 2017 summer boom. I am no Legacy Vet or Mine Santos kingpin, but I've been around the GTM block a couple hundred times. I have around 16 days of GTM playtime. I've seen stuff. Wanna know what I've seen? I've seen a server boom and flourish in a golden summer. I've seen that same server crash and burn when new updates were released. I've seen a staff team do nothing to save and absolutely savable server. And I watched that same server dry out, and wither away. So forgive me if I sound impetuous when I say the things I say, but some things have to be said. And there are some things should have been said. GTM's death was easily preventable. If a server has on average 400-600+ active players on, and that after the release of a very controversial update, that number drops to 50-110 players at most, ITS SAFE TO SAY THAT WAS NOT A GOOD UPDATE. I say "no offense" and, "not trying to be rude" all the time, but seriously staff team... And I mean this with all the respect but seriousness possible... But seriously? What were you thinking? Sincerely, Ian, who is most likely going to get banned/muted now or have his post taken down
While i disagree on a few select things this was definately deserving of a like. I think you missed one key thing and that is... us players have the ability to turn GTM around. While thats hard with 1 dev, a staff team that many of us feel barely listen to us, and almost every player having a different version of GTM being their ideal version, we still can do it. The biggest problem i have with your post is that you only really focused on the negative and left the positive stuff out. There are MANY changes that i would like to see happen in gtm however the katana cheatcode and dupe glitches, as well as the INSANE skill gap between seasoned and new jpers makes it insanely difficult to fix the economy. And ian you mentioned that you joined in the middle of the boom... I was here a month or 2 before the start and kat's were 700K at the cheapest.
