I don't know about glazed terracotta, it seems a bit flashy to me, but regular stained clay kicks ass in all situations
Glaze terracota in my opinion should have never been added to minecraft as it ruins all the esthetics from other blocks and the rest of the blocks are simple and easy to build with; meanwhile glaze terracotta is a hard block to use it as in some situations it will ruin the build. For example: wooden planks are simple and look very good in most builds meanwhile glaze terracotta can only be used in some builds and it would still ruin the build most of the time. And glaze terracotta has to many colors. If you want to make a colorful build, use wool or clay as it will look much better + There are loads of blocks you would go to before terracotta or even easter eggs made by mojan such as the wooden line in carpets, etc..
My personal thoughts on it are that it is beautiful... however, it must be used correctly, instead of creating an entire room out of them (which would literally make me go blind), make it seem like a carpet in a fancy lounge or something. See what I mean?
What could be cool is that all terracota design get all the different colors. So you could have Green Arrow (Pls laugh) You could have the red Helix like terracota
I believe that glazed terracotta is a block within the game that serves no purpose other than to look pretty. ✔️ This looks fine to me. ✖️ This looks nasty. Why would the game need something like this?
The patterns in it could be used in several architectural styles, one example being islamic art. If you plan on building a mosque or an Arabian town, the terracotta could be placed like Arabian carpets.
