    Is GTM Dying?
Educate fellow GTM citizens by linking them this .tk redirect the next time they say
an ignorant statement like "GTM is dying."
    GTM-Stats.TK

Recently, this question has become quite a hot topic. I have seen many players from both sides argue about this toe to toe with no real evidence. In this "academic" post, I intend to educate players on the truth behind GTM's, rise and

GTM, relativistically speaking, is a very old server. We have been running since 2013, that's over 5 years now! As with all servers, yes we have had our ups and downs, but, is saying "GTM is dead" or "GTM is dying," really a true statement?

First of all, to answer this question, how do we want to define a "dead" server? Most others would say to use the daily player count to define a dead server. But arguably, this is not the best way to go about this. Afterall, factors like school, work, vacations all contribute to that number. Another way to go about this is to also factor in votes.

Votes are important for a server. They define a player's interest in that server. That is why you can only vote for one server every day. And that server would be the server that most interests you. Additionally, unlike playercount, everyones votes count regardless of if they are active. This is why I want to argue that though the player count is an important factor to a server's livelihood, votes hold a much heavier place.

Anyways. So what are the statistics on the GTM votes? And how do they compare to previous times? And most importantly, what does this information tell us about the topic of our post. Take a look at the following graph, which shows the monthly votes GTM has been receiving for the past 2 years.

*Ignore the data from this month as it is still the beginning of the month.

According to this graph, before the August of 2017, GTM received an average only 6000 votes monthly. According to this graph, despite the fact currently, its just the start of this month, this month's votes add up to a staggering 11,000 votes, twice as much as the Pre-August period.

Ok, so GTM is doing much better than it was even less than a year ago. But what about that sudden dip of votes after September? Don't worry, I am getting to that.

For most school around the world, especially in American, and European countries, summer vacations begin sometime around mid-June. And then, they culminate usually around late-August to early September. Now can you really call this a coincident that the votes align almost perfectly with the timings of summer vacations? Because I would have to disagree otherwise.

Looking at current voting data, after summer vacations, our monthly votes stabilized to around 55,000 votes per month. This means that after summer vacations, we lost roughly 30% of voters dropping from the 78,000 average during the summer vacation months. Considering, how much time and focus school requires, I want to use the word "only," to describe how even because of summer vacations we lost "only" 30% of our voters.

Now, I want to include some date on the GTM player count which shows a similar trend.

*Ignore the data from this month as it is still the beginning of the month.

Now after looking at this date, we can see much more of a dramatic decrease in player count. Looking at this data, 36%. Though still somewhat close to the voting trends, there is a reason why this decrease is larger than the voting decrease. The reason is to vote, players have to well, just vote. But to count in the online time, they must be online. After summer vacations, most of us just did not have the time to stay online. This is why I said that voting is a better indicator of a server's livelihood.

Anyways, so what does this data actually say about if GTM is dying? I think these statistics make it clear that GTM is actually thriving from what it was a few months before summer. Yes, it reached its peak and has been declining since summer but, through personal experience, I am aware how school takes out of our gaming time. It is clear that school is the culprit for these declining statistics. Afterall, based on the fact that GTM is rated mature, and through statistics of my own I have gathered the past few years, GTM does have an older player base. Generally, older kids have a larger workload from school.

Great post!!! Id love to see some large youtubers on here as i expect that that would boost our player count tremendously. If you look for pvp, drug, or economy servers on any of gtm's voting links gtm is almost always at the top.

Ironicly i first joined gtm about june 2017.

Thats why so many players played gtm last year. Cuz of EpicStun and a few other ytbers. They pushed the server so hard. If a big ytber joins gtm and if he'll make active videos, GTM will get more players.

Anyways great text Skylix. I dont know what to think about GTM but I would never say that GTM is dying. Hope GTM will come out of this “big“ deep phase.

And I think u forgot talking about tje Forums. Everytime I open my forums page, I have 5-15 notifications and 20-30ppl posted new messages. And its like that since I am a member of this Forum. I hope, as I said, GTM won't die. Sorry for the 3messages, idk, Icouldn't edit my last message.

Its just hard for me to think of youtubers that would like to play gta in minecraft, but also dont have a problem displaying gtm's sexual themes, drug influences, and sometimes explicite chat. (I know you can blur things out, but that kind of tells the younger viewers "hey, this is inapropriet... dont play")

There are several large youtubers that are willing to play GTM, simply search mc-gtm.net and Grand Theft Minecart into youtube. There are also some youtubers that have played really recently, although I can't remember their channel.

Edited your post, but the edit button should be at the bottom of your reply. 3 or more consecutive posts are considered spam :/

And though I didnt mention ytbers in my post, they where a big reason to why GTM grew so dramatically. Im sure with summer we can expect to see more youtbers.
