Everyone is tired of the constant hackers that are on when the staff are offline. Which have plenty of time to hack before they are detected by the staff. Also I think that the staff team wastes to much time overlooking the hackusations on people in the game when they could be doing something else. (balances, noobs, etc.) There are also way too many false hack claims about people, that really frustrates everyone. Most of these problems could be solved if you implemented even the simplest anti-hack. This isn't a new server I know that for a fact, but I'm also aware that you guys have had hackers since day 1.. ? -Thanks xIMamiBeyTR
While I agree that some form of Anti-Cheat would be great to have, I'm not sure how that would work with Jetpacks and Drugs, if at all. After all, a common Anti-Cheat may not be able to discern between cocaine and speedhacks or Flyhacks and Jetpacks.
The problem is that this server is very different from others, it would be pretty dificult and probably very expensive to create a custom anti cheat.
As mentioned by a few other people, a pre-built anti-cheat will have a lot of problems with our plugins. We are though in fact on the verge of creating our very own, custom anti-cheat. But anti-cheats can take years of work and thousands of dollars to develop. So as our anti-cheat continues to develop please report any hackers to online staff members. If none are on, record the hacker, and report them at https://grandtheftmc.net/support-tickets/open.
The other day there was a retard on the forums filling up the global section with spam, there were no mods on and i kept telling him to stop. I wish i had power to delete threads and accounts at that moment.
The problem with this is that because of all of our custom plugins (Jetpacks, Wingsuits, Drugs, Food Perks) etc. we can’t just go on bukkit and get some generic anti cheat. The devs need to develop a custom one, and developing a custom anticheat takes a VERY long time and COSTS a lot of money.
MixLogic this also relates to my thread: 2 days ago I was falsely banned by tmorge5 for "nofall". I made an appeal about that, do you know when I could get my response?
It was already started on development a while back ago but then we had to pause it because a few duplication bugs where found which took over in ranking of importance of doing, currently what we have is no anti-cheat as it doesn’t ban but we do have a detect-cheat which pretty much warns us when players are moving too quicky, etc but so we see those messages the player must be /report’ed so the detection plugin can try to find any hack he is using such as jesus, fly, speed, etc it even checks if player is using drugs so it womt confuse them but sometimes if a player is lagging it will also send messages as when you lag, you stop and then move really quicky so thats the main reason why we have it so you have to /report so if you see a hacker do /report (username) (hack being used) and then if no staff in that GTM ask a staff member through /help if they are able to help.
Wow, I’ve played on GTM for quite some time now. But I was never aware that /report was of that importance and strength. Myself and everyone that I’ve known and spoken too on the server, have never made much sense for the /report system. If I’ve know this before, I would have gladly used it. But I think that the staff team should addvertise a lot more about the command and possibly add automatic chat-advertisements, especially during the peak time of hackers (About 10pm to 5am Pacific Time Zone). So that the community is aware of the power that /report has and is able to protect them selfs against the hacks. Another idea that I’ve thought of; the staff should make a Punishment system that is powered by the players; whenever there’s a hacker, and the console receives say ~5 /report’s on him from different people, he would be put in to the jail or banned for a certain amount of time (under 24 hours). Then the player is released. If the suspect gets a second offense in which case he should be banned until the staff have a chance to review the case and maybe speak with the people that have reported him. Then it’s the staff teams decision for the punishment. Thanks -MamiBey
