Since the update ive found mysef playing less and less gtm. Im not quitting and i certainly dont want to quit, i just feel like gtm is severely imballanced ATM. Im sick and tired of dieing to teams of hobos and not being able to defend against grenade launchers. Over the past week ive noticed a severe drop in the ammount of time high ranked players spend on the server. I dont want this to be another minigun hate thread but the mini is the biggest part of this update (in my opinion). Lets imagine guns like big cats. Snipers are like leapords, they camoflage well and can stalk prey from far away. SMGs are like tigers, there big strong and are good at ripping apart there prey at a close range. Rifles are like cheetas, they are precise fast and are good for running down your enemies at a medium range. In my opinion miniguns should cover all these playstyles, they relate to a black panther. They can attack from far away and can camoflage in the dense forest the panther is native to, they do lots of damage like a lion, they can shoot fast like the cheetah. This is why the minigun is such a coveted weapon, this is why everybody wanted it, but now the mini is like a common cold. It effects a shit ton of people but never actually does anything to the person. Some say the mini should be a jugernaut type weapon, my answer for this is that it was. A group of lower ranked people could easily take out a minigunner if they worked together correctly. A jugernaut could easily take out another jugernaut. Some say the mini should be a spray type weapon, my answer for this is that it was. You could easily deal damage to several players from enough distance away. Nowdays you just sprinkle a little salt on them, they kill you, you rage quit, the end. The point is that the mini was such a desired weapon for a reason, it made it so that any player carrying it would only have to worry about other minigunners, and teams of players. It covered all playstyles and was an exceptional weapon no matter who carried it. Yes the damage needed a medium sized nerf, but the accuracy and range suited the weapon perfectly. A month ago i would find 40 players on gtm 2 regularly, now im lucky to see 30.
I too actually at one point almost quit GTM. This was before I became staff. I was starting to get bored of GTM. A lot of my friends and teammates had already quit. For 1 week, I didn't come on GTM because I was bored. Then one day, I forcefully pulled myself on GTM, and at feeling that goodness of GTM, I was revived! SkylixMC was back..! About the miniguns, I can see where you are coming from. The higher ranked players certainly got used to the insane power of the minigun. Though how much the minigun was nerfed is definitely a matter of debate. But that the minigun was too OP is a fact.
The mini needed a nerf... nobody can deny that. I think that a single minigun bullet should do 1-1.5 hearts of damage to a fully armored player. I also think that a minigun should keep it's range at a pretty far distance. How much the bullets spread is a big problem for me RN. I think that at 50 blocks the bullets should effect a full 3 block diameter area. This would make the minigun survivable but still usable. It is still an exceptional gun and effects multiple players. What i mean by the damage part is that it needed a medium sized nerf, if this is what it was set at im sry for being ignorant. As for interest in the server... i love gtm, but the way ground pvp is now makes me want to use my time in a better way (Ive been vanilla pvping a lot recently). I know that i should learn to JP and wing. xD I have some IRL obsticals RN but as sood as i get them sorted out im going to apply for staff. I would love to join the staff team and help gtm be a fun place to spend time and kill people.
We’ve met you guys as much in the middle as we can. If we buff it we will loose LOTS of new players. If we nerf it we will loose a few old donators.
It just needs to be buffed ever so slightly until it is where players want it, otherwise it looks like your saying that gtm doesent care about its donors.
Here’s my opinion on the minigun, it was way too OP, it was like a deadly beam before the nerf, and hardly anything could stop it. Personally, an accuracy nerf was needed the most since even if the damage was decreased, people can still jitterclick, and can basically still kill people in fractions of seconds, even if the damage was nerfed. The accuracy nerf means the minigun is no longer the number one weapon in GTM. If you didn’t already realise, GTM has a shit ton of other weapons, however before the nerf, they were unused due to the minigun having everything that was needed in a weapon, and outclassed all other weapons. After this nerf, I have started to see a lot more diversity in what weapons people are using, and have started seeing different, unique strategies, when before, minigunning was the number one strategy, and mostly dominated. However, even with this nerf, I still use the minigun, and so far, it still seems like a decent weapon for what it’s meant to do, deal tons of damage upclose, and be a spray and pray from a distance, and is still a fair choice depending on your play strategy.
There goes all motivation for godfather and supreme, the minigun is the whole reason i donated to gtm. Even though im not a supreme i boosted myself up to godfather by buying candy canes and sponsor. The point is that now theres no reason to get godfather, its basicly the most pointless rank in the game and costs 5 mil. Theres also almost no reason for supreme, the only things that make supreme worth it is the large BP and the 2000 tokens every month. As for jittering i have suggested several times before to set an output cap on tge mini so that jittering doesent do anything, this way the minigun can keep its accuracy and get its dmg nerfed. I havent gotten a clear response yet, the only thing ive gotten is from mix who said "weve talked about setting an output cap on all guns" Im not trying to sound mad or rude but im normally the kind of person who can controll what comes out of there mouth but not there fingers. And yes skylix, the output cap would make your fastplace useless. (JK)
