Honestly, I've been scammed like 3 times now.. I feel that the staff team should be able to check into the people's ip while they're logging into the gtm forums and ban that ip because usually that ip doesnt change in a vpn.
We'll definitely look into more ways of how we can prevent people from irl scmaming. However, I personally have gone through multiple irl deals, even before I became staff, and was never scammed once. My one tip is to always make the buyer pay first. If they aren't willing to do it, don't take the risk. Also, look out for non-donors offering irl deals. Many of them our scammers, and most of them, if they could even afford the deal, would have bought themselves a rank. I'm not trying to diss all non-donors because there are definitely some legitimate ones. But this is just what I've noticed from my past experiences.
Are you saying that the person buying the irl stuff goes first? I would have to disagree on that. I've never been on the shop buying part of it, but I would do half the items first, buy the store package, then the other half. Just record it. P.S. I know you don't like this idea, and I'd definitely prefer if the person getting the store package to buy first, the money is worth something compared to the in-game stuff.
Thats why as a buyer, you only do donor deals with people you trust so they don't scam you like that. If its a random hobo willing to do donor deals with you, I think its very possible that it could be a scam. And also, the only reason why I don't like paying half first is because donor deals usually consist of lots of money. Like lets just say youre paying 20 mil for sponsor. Either way even if you pay half, you will still lose 10 mil~ which is still a pretty big sum. One of the most common donor scams I've seen and experienced was where the buyer offers to buy only if you pay half first. Followed up by phrases such as, "I don't trust you" and "I've been scammed many times before, please just go first".
I get the idea behind that one, my point is that if you do the half first the scammer, who often moves it to a different account somehow, doesn't get the full sum. The other side is if you just got the 20M and lose only half of it, you will still have spending money while they deal with your support tickets. First of all, WHO DOES THOSE TRADES? Second, "possible"?!?!?
Lol surprisingly many people~ Just look at the threads. But yea I know what you mean, it's just that I'd rather not lose 10mil+ and if someone offers a sketchy deal like that, I wouldn't consider the risk. Also, whats so wrong with "possible"? There could be legit hobos down to do irl trades. You don't know that.
Okay, so I am going to steal this off of someone else's idea and plugin design, but here we go: We know a lot of you participate in IRL trades, and typically use a middleman for making it work. We understand that this has its risks, so we wish to remedy that issue. This could be a brand new system that acts as the middleman, but rather than being a random player, it will be the server itself. This system allows you to offer any item or money to the buying player, and they choose what store package to offer to you. You can see the GUI below: When each person accepts the trade, the red glass panes will turn green, and once both players have accepted, the player buying the package will be given a URL to go to, and upon purchase, they will receive the offered in-game items, and the other player will receive their package!
