Do you think minecraft is dying? If you do, what suggestions do you have to save what is in my opinion the greatest video game ever coded.
I don't think Minecraft is dying, the only thing that's dying (that is related to Minecraft) are the minds and souls of children who played since the age of 5.
Minecraft is dying. The number of people per year purchasing the game has drastically decreased (percentage wise). My suggestion is for Microsoft to make sure that Mojang is not so fucking money hungry.
Keep in mind that notch sold minecraft to microsoft for over a billion dollars ($1,000,000,000) and that microsoft is a massive company that wants to profit, as far as the number of accounts purchased, many accounts are handed down to small children from siblings meaning they dont have to be purchased again.
Mojang sold minecraft to microsoft for 2.5 billion ($2,500,000,000) 2,500,000,000 / 26.95 = ~92,764,378.5 Meaning that to make money back micfosoft needs to sell about 93 million accounts. That doesent include marketing either.
Minecraft as a company is going downhill the but the companies and servers that are in minecraft don’t necessarily need Mojang. As long as they just regularly do bug fixes MC should live on.
I apologize for necroposting, it's just I agree so much with this video and this thread that I had to provide it. In my opinion, yes minecraft is dying. It will never truly die, but it will lose a lot of players. There will still be minecrafters, but they will be members of a forgotten age. A golden age
Yes, I agree that single player minecraft is losing players. And Minecrafts “Windows 10” version is hurting because of it not having paid releases. But multiplayer servers are different, we can create our own possibilities. In multiplayer the only restrictions we really have are the ones set forward by the servers respective devs themselves.
